What is fiddle festival?

For classical string players: think of your local Rotary or Kiwanis Music Festival… but take out the sonatas and concertos and replace them with jigs and reels! You get the same kind of feedback on your playing as you would at a classical festival, but within the idiom of traditional and contemporary fiddle music.

For fiddle contest players: think of your regional or provincial fiddle contest… but take away blind judging and add the wonderful component of helpful feedback from the adjudicator! Not only do you get a chance to perform for an audience, but you leave with personalized playing tips from a skilled fiddler. An important point to observe: we ask that your tunes be played as a non-stop medley rather than in contest style where you stop between each selection.

And yes, there are prizes to be won (both cash bursaries and achievement trophies).
