Supporting music education

Supporting music education in the Central Vancouver Island region

Part of our mandate is to promote music education and support families looking to learn how to play traditional fiddle music. The Nanaimo Fiddle Society bursary program has two components.

Instrument Lending Library

The NFS has a collection of instruments that are available for active members to borrow for a period of up to 12 months. These instruments include fractional sizes for young players as well as several full-sized fiddles.

We also accept donations! We are always looking for violins in a variety of sizes, as long as they are in playable condition. Contact us by email if you have an instrument to donate.

General bursaries for group classes & camps

If you would like to attend a group music class or a summer fiddle workshop and you need financial assistance with fees, the Nanaimo Fiddle Society offers bursaries to our members.

If you would like to learn more about our bursary assistance program please email us.

Audrey Hansen Memorial Bursary

This bursary fund offers assistance to youth who are enrolled in the Fiddelium performance training program.
