Our Artistic Team

Trish and Geoff

For more than 10 years the duo has been writing and publishing fiddle and piano music books under the Cross Canada Fiddle banner, which soon added a teaching side and their flagship ensemble, Fiddlelium. Among their other groups is a folk band, a group that specializes in “barn dance” repertoire, a fiddle and vocal adult group and the award-winning Fiddle Frolics, a group for young children that teaches both fiddle and dance.

Trish Horrocks

Trish Horrocks studied music at UVic and Western University and has been teaching violin and viola in Nanaimo for twenty years. During that time she has helped to develop a thriving Suzuki program and has also created and coached several classical and folk ensembles including the Nanaimo Youth Orchestra, Folk Band, and Fiddelium.

Trish is especially passionate about giving people the opportunity to make music with others, and she gets very excited about finding that one single “aha!” moment can transport an ensemble’s sound to new heights. In 2020, Trish and her husband Geoff were the recipients of the City of Nanaimo Honour in Culture award in recognition of their work as music educators in the region.

Audrey Hansen

She was a beloved figure in the local music scene, bringing laughter and infectious energy to every performance with the Kinda Ceili Band. Her fiddle playing wasn't just technically brilliant; it had a way of lifting the audience's spirits and making her an instant favourite wherever they played.

Beyond the stage, she was a passionate advocate for young musicians, particularly those drawn to fiddle music. Her dedication to fostering young talent eventually led to the creation of Fiddelium and Folk Band, initiatives that inspired and paved the way for our own organization.

Her spirit and influence resonate deeply within our team. We strive to carry on her legacy by nurturing the next generation of musicians and sharing the joy of music with our community.
